Scholarships deadline:
January 15, 2021 It is time to explore the 4 annual Maryland State Scholarships. Please encourage all eligible members to apply for these $1,500 Scholarships. Do not miss out on the $6,000 worth of Scholarships that Maryland State is able to award. (1)________Dr. Anne H. Matthews (2)_______Esther J. Crooks (3)________ Dr. Fern D. Schneider These 3 Scholarships ($1,500 each) may be used for: A. Additional certification such as National Teacher Certification B. Certificate renewal, which may include MSDE credit course C. Graduate level courses towards a Masters Degree D. Graduate level courses towards a Doctoral Degree The Scholarship Committee determines scholarship awards based on the following criteria: 1 . The applicant is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. 2. The application was completed and returned to the Scholarship Chairperson by January 15, 2020. 3. The applicant is active in the Society on the chapter level. 4. The applicant has been in the Society for three years. 5. The applicant's record may indicate interest in and service to the community. 6. The applicant attaches a brief article detailing the utilization of scholarship funds. ==================================================== (4)_______The Founders The Founders Scholarship (up to $1,500) is designated for lifelong learning experiences unrelated to to an advanced degree, certificate of renewal or National Board Certification. There may be more than one awardee each year. The Scholarship Committee determines the Founders awards based on the following criteria: 1 . The applicant is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. 2. The application was completed and returned to the Scholarship Chairperson by January 15, 2020. 3. The applicant is active in the Society on the chapter level. 4. The applicant has been in the Society for three years. 5. The applicant's record may indicate interest in and service to the community 6. The recipient demonstrated evidence of intent to engage in an extended learning program involving a series of lectures, workshops, and/ or academic- based continuing educations classes at an accredited institution or as part of a nationally recognized program for lifelong learning. 7. The recipient distinguishes herself from one seeking a Mini- Grant whose intention is to engage in a limited exposure for personal enrichment in a new skill, avocation, or single topic of interest. 8. The applicant agrees to attach a brief article for the DKG MD Newsletter. 9. The recipient agrees to share her experience at an Alpha Beta State Leadership Development Conference, Program Workshop, MD DKG leadership Development Conference, Webinar or the like within 12 months of receiving the award. 10. The recipient did not receive an International Scholarship during the year 2019. 11. The recipient is aware they have 2 years from the date awarded to utilize the stipend. |
International Scholarship Committee
This committee is charged with annually awarding up to thirty (30) $6,000 (U.S.) international scholarships to members for study at the master’s degree and $10,000 (U.S.) for work at the doctorate level.
Goals
1. Revise content and structure of the application form to make it a more professional and polished document.
2. Develop talking points about scholarships to publish throughout the Society.
3. Spotlight scholarship recipients on the Society website.
4. Increase electronic communication with state organization scholarship chairs.
